What are your plans for the weekend? Crazily enough, we're actually getting back on a plane to Atlanta for a long-awaited trip to visit Alex's sister! The weather forecast predicts storms, so bookstores and movies may be in order. If you're in a giggly mood, Demetri Martin's hour-long special premieres on Comedy Central this Saturday at 10pm. He's hilarious, don't you think? Hope you have a great one, and here are a few fun posts from around the web...Sweet wedding moment.

Have a great trip! W're having a date night while my folks babysit our toddler!
ReplyDeleteWe also just moved to DC from ATL. I miss it sometimes. Check out Octane Coffee and The Little Tart Bakeshop over on Memorial if you have some time. The pastries are AMAZING and all ingredients are local! Yum!! And the proprietors love kids, so it's a great morning/midday stop with the little ones, especially on a rainy day.
Warmest welcome from Atlanta! So many recommendations from a surprisingly good place to eat (coming from a former New Yorker, at that). Have a wonderful visit! I hope A's sister shows you the best!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, the hair at the Clinton wedding! I love it.
ReplyDeleteYou must try sublime donuts on 10th street! Have a safe trip!

DeleteWhen you're in Atlanta, make sure to have brunch at Murphy's in Virginia Highlands. It's the best! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAtlanta! The Brickstore pub, Swallow at the Hollow music and barbecue, apple orchards in Ellijay, Alon's deli and bakery...I make suggestions because I hope that people chime in. We've lived here for a year (and we only have a year left) and we're always hungry for new things to do/see/eat in Atlanta before we leave.
ReplyDeleteDemetri Martin is hilarious - thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteAtlanta welcomes you!!! Grant park farmers market on Sunday with a coffee from Octane. Yum. Feather baby in Decatur for the softest clothes. Antico pizza for the real thing when it comes to woodfire, italian ambiance, and watching Georgia Tech kids have fun, it's BYOB and kid-friendly. Fox Brothers BBQ. Sid Mashburn's amazing clothes shop for Alex and the whole West side for design-y goodness...you can get a bit to eat at Star Provisions while you're there. I'm from MN by way of NYC and love it here in ATL.
ReplyDeleteSo excited about Fargo being a show! I hope it's good, as I love that movie. Have a great time in Atlanta!
ReplyDeleteSmithsonian is offering 2 free tickets for free museum day tomorrow! I think the High Museum of Art is linked up with them :)
ReplyDeleteKyma, on Piedmont, for dinner. My favorite restaurant in the world. (A greek seafood place)
ReplyDeleteJCTKitchen- Nouveau Southern. Fried chicken, truffle fries, deviled eggs and cocktails
Taqueria del Sol- just yum. A little noisy, very family- friendly. Amazing guacamole, tacos, and margaritas.
Hey Atlanta? You'll be closer to us! Have a blast!
ReplyDeleteis that Hanelle in the street style picture? I think it is, she is so pretty and such a talented photographer, with such style!
ReplyDeleteHANNELI MUSTAPARTA? I meant to add....
ReplyDeleteOh, and Im going to Atlanta next week to see the opening of my dad's play at the alliance theater, "Apples & Oranges" which will hopefully come to NY.
ReplyDeleteI would most likely give anything to be able to go tube down a river this weekend with a cold beer in my hand! That picture is absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteJoanna— I'm an Atlanta native (although not living there now), and if you guys have stormy weather, take a look at the High Museum! It's an incredible experience, the art is phenomenal, and it's my favorite place in the whole city. Great for kids and adults alike. Can't wait to see photos!
ReplyDeleteYay! That means we will have some more travelling posts next week! I'll be hanging out with my parents a lot, as they are going back to Spain next Tuesday! :) Have a great one! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, I love it! Have an amazing weekend too!

ReplyDelete(http://mdavidmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/LK003web.jpg)
Also, is that a pipe on the coffee table in the falling asleep animation?
ReplyDeleteWhere is that dress from in the street style photo? Its gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a McQueen...and thus will have to live in my fantasy life.
DeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend with Alex's sister! Even if you did just get off a plane! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI just love that the falling alseep to a DVD was set on Pride & Prejudice. I could totally fall asleep to that menu music. Not during the movie though. It's my favorite.
ReplyDeletePlease post a travel guide for Atlanta!
ReplyDeleteLove that video clip of the Queen & Queen Mum! Happy weekending!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I've been waiting for a site like Vine.com. Thank you for posting it. I already ordered stuff. I had no idea Earth's Best made Pull Ups. I'm psyched! The prices are great and it's so easy to find exactly what I need. Thank you so much for getting the word out!
ReplyDeleteHave a good time!!!! Those are some great links, btw. Fargo, a TV series!? I'm excited :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link love Joanna! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLordy--that McQueen dress Hanneli is wearing was something I was imagining (and unrealistically dreaming of) as a wedding dress. It's amazing to see someone wearing it out and about. She looks dreamy.
ReplyDeleteWe love Atlanta - hope you will, too! You'll be just in time for the Little 5 Fest, celebrating one of the city's quirkiest and most fun neighborhoods... also home to some great local bookstores. But I'm sure Alex's sister will be showing you a grand time. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI read the antelope canyon link as cantaloupe canyon. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Joanna! :)
The youfellasleeptoadvd.com just made me so happy! I fall asleep to my Pride and Prejudice dvd all the time! It's my favorite movie and I have to hear that music all the time in my sleep which drives me bonkers but P&P is worth it :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your trip!!

ReplyDeleteI am from and live in Atlanta. Before you leave, if you have time to have some breakfast grub then you should definitely stop in Ria's Bluebird Cafe. I think it is the best breakfast in Atlanta and Im sure many would agree. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteTHE Joanna Goddard will be in my city this weekend?! DIES.
ReplyDeleteWow very interesting that you re-posted the "marshmallow willpower". I'm reading a book called Emotional Intelligence by Danile Goleman and he talks about that test in there! It's a measure of how much you can delay gratification, part of emotional intelligence. That test correlates heavily with how well children will do later in life!!! They followed those kids!
ReplyDeleteI love the links! So fun. Have a beautiful weekend!

Joanna, I always read but rarely comment. I hope this is going to change! I love the new design and I believe I was one of the rare ones who believed that this might be your choice even though all the options looked great!
ReplyDeleteIt´s just a very organic fit to your style, I guess!
Love your links as always!
Have a great weekend!

I admit I took advantage of JCrew's 25% off and ordered a new coat :) http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/outerwear/wool/PRDOVR~49622/49622.jsp The double-cloth lady day coat in camel. I can't wait for it to be cold enough to wear it (oh, and for the baby to born so I can actually button it).

ReplyDeleteHope you had fun in Atlanta! That's where we live :) Yay!
ReplyDeleteYou might not have to daydream about the shoes if you're willing to consider J Crew's similar style--it's very pretty and a fraction of the cost:)
