Fridge Makeover: Photo magnets

Our apartment has a plain old white fridge. So, to jazz it up a bit, I made some Pinhole Press photo magnets. Our gallery display makes our whole kitchen feel so much cozier, and Toby loves pointing himself out. For Mother's Day, I'm going to send my mom a package of family magnets:)

What's on your fridge?

  8. Those are great!!! I love how you've got some celebrities on there!

Our fridge is full of various papers and family photos. :) And of course the schedule for the YMCA because my mom is just a wee bit obsessed!

  9. How lovely! My fridge is covered with magnets of every place I visit. I know, I know... it's a bit kitsch, but I love it!

  10. My fridge is stainless steal on the front :( , but the sides are magnetic! When my husband and I go on a trip without each other (rare) the only gift we are allowed to bring back is the raddest magnet we can find from that city / state / country! Its a fun and inexpensive way to jazz up our fridge, bring a little culture into the kitchen, and most importantly, its a fun bond we have together. We also always choose one magnet to bring home when we go on trips together. Love your photo magnets! Toby is such a doll.

Our wedding photographer got some great shots of him and I on my wedding day, so I chose some of those plus some of the rest of our family. And actually, I decided to peruse Pinhole Press for a gift idea because I've loved seeing all their products on your blog, Jo. Good stuff! :-D

We were just lamenting the lack of magnets on our stainless fridge - we need a magnet space so we can get more cool magnets!

  21. Love it! Since our fridge is stainless, we can only put magnets on the side of it - but it's all magnets of places we've travelled to, which I plan to keep collecting as we go. :)

  22. My fridge is covered with the cool graphic cards from restaurants I've been to over the years. When I moved from the West Village to Union Square last year, it was nice to take a little piece of all my old West Village haunts along with me!

Do you have a source for the picture of the woman caring a trumpet and suitcase? I've been searching for this photograph everywhere and can't seem to find it. My favorite Cuban restaurant has this photo up on their wall and I always admire it. Please let me know. Great images :)

  34. I almost ordered some the other day !
Having a friendly looking fridge is so important :)

I have some chilhood pictures on mine, a few postcards of art I like, a few labels and tickets and notes to keep in sight.

I love picking up nice magnets here and there...
My favourites are from Studio Fludd and Le Petit Atelier de Paris, and my scandinavian letters from Kotona Design.
And some remind me of travels and places, like the Seattle Library one, my canadian flag and my Strand magnet...
    My fridge looks like me.

  36. I have these and love them.
I also used stickygram.com to make magnets of our instagram pictures. I use instagram so much and Lucia loves to play with the magnets. They are about a quarter of the size of the rectangle magnets on PP so perfect for her tiny hands. A great idea for Mother's Day!

  37. i think the front of a persons fridge says a lot about them. ours is covered in silly kid artwork (mini picassos) and tons of photos and funny to read magnets from all the places my husband and i have visited.
but this sure is a cute idea to turn those precious photos that tend to eventually curl up on my fridge- into flat magnets!

  38. I love this idea! My bf is not so fond of my beloved travel magnets, which do, admittedly, look a bit cluttered. This is such an easy, but cute idea!

  40. Great idea... Are there any legal issues with printing stuff that isn't your own? I only ask because I tried one with an on-line printer and basically what they said was, "no can do". (I wasn't going to sell it or anything, I just wanted it.) Thoughts?

    Thanks.

You own travel photos on magnets would be amazing! Every time you stepped into your kitchen, you would be transported! I always put children's photos and school artwork on the fridge, but I love the idea of making my own.

  64. The magnets are awesome and the photos of your son are great but the photos of the celebrities were done by professional photographers who own the rights to those images. So you shouldn't be reproducing them without their permission.

I'm a pro shooter and would be devastated to learn that people were taking my photos and using them without my permission or without proper compensation.

I realize people don't always think about these things but it's actually illegal and very harmful to the artists who create the original work.
