Aren't these the most ridiculously beautiful French wedding dresses? So ethereal and romantic.By the way, Glamour.com just wrote that the time between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day is "Engagement Season," since so many people propose at that point. Is anyone thinking they might get engaged?
P.S. My wedding dress, how to do your wedding hair, and other jaw-dropping wedding dresses.
(Thank you, Florence)

Oh la la..they are truly romantic and totally snazzy! I love the first one. It looks charming yet very comfy:) Happy Thursday, Joanna. xo
ReplyDelete*Groan* Gorgeous!! I love the links, too. I am still debating how to wear my hair.
ReplyDeleteI have a sneaking suspicion I might get engaged this "engagement season!" Here's to hoping! :)
ReplyDeletei think you might have just found my dream dress! my parents are coming to town in a few weeks for a visit with my boyfriend and I... and to celebrate my birthday in beautiful NYC.... the thought has crossed my mind.
ReplyDeletetheyre all so beautiful, theres not a single one I dislike :)
ReplyDeletexo lenaeatshearts.blogspot.com
Those are positively exquisite dresses, but I would love to give some of those girls a sandwich.
ReplyDeleteBecca
Oh my goodness they're so beautiful! I especially like the second one.
ReplyDeleteNo ring for me... I need a few more years before anything like that happens ;-)
I'm not getting engaged because I can't get legally married. It fucking sucks.
ReplyDeleteanonymous, you should check out the wedding store Lovely Bridal in new york -- it's amazing, super friendly and lovely, in an old brownstone in the west village with fireplaces and antique sofas!
ReplyDeletekarla, that is terrible. where do you live? you should come to new york:)
ReplyDeletewedding dress fever! ahh! thank you for posting this, Jo :)
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend says things like "the family church in the middle of Kansas might be a nice place to get married. I hadn't considered that..." and when I sent him the pictures of the hotel in the Chilean mountains featured in Honestly WTF few days ago, he replied "honeymoon?" even though I said no such thing. It seems like he's fine planning the wedding but doesn't ever let on about anything engagement-wise! I'm about to pop the question myself! Honestly, it's adorable, and I'm not in any rush. I love knowing that he thinks about all that stuff, even if he pretends it's no big deal! I actually think it would be kind of funny to plan the whole wedding in secret and then get engaged - it would take off a lot of pressure!
ReplyDeleteOoh la la. I think if you put the word "French" in front of anything, it would sound amazing. Let's try it: French socks. French blankets. French plumbing. Hmmm.....
ReplyDeletehaha, kate, that's really cute:)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could! Thanks for acknowledging that it's terrible.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's funny? I was in Paris last week and saw a couple taking wedding photos in front of the Eiffel Tower... they were literally in head-to-toe glitter, even in HIS hair! It was like a Quinceañera gone wrong. Nothing like these dreamy dresses :)
ReplyDeleteWell, my boyfriend proposed on Saturday... (With his grandma's cute ring, I wrote about it herehttp://annabelvita.com/a-story-about-a-ring)
ReplyDeleteIt was our two year anniversary and we don't celebrate thanksgiving but it's still in engagement season!
I have a theory that people don't like to propose in wedding season because they don't want their partner to think they felt guilted into it by the wedding. And also, if I'd got engaged this summer it would have taken away some of the attention from my brother's wedding - I reckon that happens a lot too.
they are really simple and beautiful

My best friend is getting engaged this month! I'm so excited for her. Do you know of any good wedding planning books out there? I want to get her one is an engagement present.
ReplyDeleteoh, these are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm about to move to Switzerland with my boyfriend of 2.5 years...the conversation has definitely come up with some regularity recently so who knows...ahhh!
I told my boyfriend of four years to wait until I graduated college to propose. I graduate Dec. 17th, so I could become engaged at anytime. SQUEAL! (All caps is slightly obnoxious, but the possibility calls for it.)
ReplyDeleteWow, these dresses are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteOooh la la! These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I have our 3 year anniversary coming up on January 12th, and we'll actually be together on it for the first time...I was in Austria and he was in Ohio for our one year, and then Texas/Ohio for our second year! You never know... :) Congratulations to the ladies who have already gotten engaged this engagement season!
We're definitely ready to get engaged, so I think it's just a matter of time. We've thought about eloping but I'm way too chicken to skip the big wedding and disappoint our families -- we've been together nearly 9 years, so us getting married definitely deserves a fairly massive party. Keeping my fingers crossed that the question gets popped sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are GORGEOUS. Seriously stunning. I think my man's gonna propose soon :) we've been talking about it for ages and are planning on getting married this summer, so it has to come sometime soon! Im so excited :) my friends and family are all waiting on pins and needles. Ha
ReplyDeleteI got engaged last "engagement season" on Christmas morning :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh these are beautiful! I love all the lace.
ReplyDeleteAlso I wish I were getting engaged this season, but seeing as I've only been with the BF a year, I think next season is more likely/reasonable. Fingers crossed :)
Oh wow, a Christmas engagement would be beyond perfect! something to break up the winter blues; a big sparkly ring would detract from how early it is dark now! (3.30pm in London, eugh)
ReplyDeleteI just got engaged over thanksgiving! I really couldn't be any happier :) please keep the wedding posts coming, already getting overwhelmed by the planning!
ReplyDeleteps- LOVE the french wedding dresses and will definitely check out Lovely in the west village. thanks joanna!
mindy, dark at 3:30pm? no way! it's dark here at 4:30, and i thought we had it bad!
ReplyDeletei got married 10 yrs ago, and want to get married again just so i can wear a dress like that, simple but lots of lace....love. Léa
ReplyDeleteBEYOND stunning- this is exactly what I want to wear when hubby and I renew our vows (: (I talked about our wedding today on the blog, too! so head on over, if you'd like- it's me walking down the isle (:
ReplyDeletethese dresses are gorgeous! take a look at mine !!

Love it!!

Beautiful! Me-no, no man. But one of my best friends just got engaged...so it may well be the season
ReplyDeleteWatching these photos I feel I want to get married :)
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous discovery. Thanks Joanna! I'm getting married in September and have yet to go dress hunting. Hmm, maybe a trip to France is in order ;) xo
ReplyDeleteAn impossible question to answer! If a woman knows she's about to be proposed to, then the man isn't doing a good enough job planning the proposal! ;-)
ReplyDeleteJoanna--You had me at the title.
ReplyDelete"French....Wedding...Dresses."
Pretty much my three favorite words.
Those french wedding dresses are totally gorgeous. Would look so perfect for church or outdoor wedding. xoxo
ReplyDeletehttp://hellofridaybypaik.blogspot.com/
It was dark in Sweden at 2:00 p.m. today. UGH.
ReplyDeleteThose dresses are pretty, but I couldn't get past the fact that the models looked So. Hungry. Maybe a few other body types modeled would have really made the beauty of the dresses stand out...
got engaged 3 weeks ago! just ahead of the wedding season, i guess ;) wish i could pull off one of those dresses!
ReplyDeletei am not planning to get married anytime soon. but this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh these are lovely - the first one especially in my eyes. I got married at Aspen in ski clothing which was white, but still a dress like one of these makes my heart pitter-patter. One thought I often have about so many current wedding gowns is that they are not really appropriate for a church wedding - all the cleavage & sexy draping. Maybe I am just an old fuddy duddy, but they make me uncomfortable in a church setting. I would be so interested to get you & your readers' take on that... ~B
ReplyDeleteOooo! This is the part of the process I'm most excited about! I can't wait to try on dresses :) And these are just dreamy!!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and I designed a ring together back in October, and I've deduced (through his hints and other things) that it's coming any day now... I'm on pins and needles waiting! So excited!
Joanna--have you seen the wedding pictures from another gorgeous Joanna? Joanna Hillman (now Hillman-Green from Harper's Bazaar). I love everything about this wedding, down to her red lipstick, tasseled dancing dress and hair.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.harpersbazaar.com/fashion/fashion-articles/joanna-hillman-wedding-photos#slide-1
Good gracious. That first one is beyond ridiculously gorgeous. Border line offensive. Can I please remarry my husband in that?!!

ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! I have a love of France and thus everything french, these are stunning! Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteHow awful is this? I learned about it at Vacation Bible School! They made us watch a video with cartoons that explained it. My mom was PISSED, and for good reason. They had no right to show that to us. The only thing I remember from talking to my parents that night was that I just kept asking me dad how guys can pee once it gets hard. LOL. Poor guy, I'm sure I mortified him but I was just dumfounded that it would be able to go from soft to hard to soft.
ReplyDeleteI love how different these are. I'm tired of our typical traditional wedding dresses.

Kiana---very funny!
ReplyDeleteLove these dresses.....would love to see the whole wedding party and the location for all these dresses too.

ohmyGOODNESS! these are beautiful - it makes me want to get married all over again!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Any of these beautiful pieces would make for dreamy wedding photos, especially around Paris (where we will be wed!).
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE the 3rd pic down! But all the dresses are beautiful!

Just so lovely... You have an AMAZING eye Jo! They are just what you said, ethereal... Makes me want to get married to my husband all over again...
ReplyDeleteI just got engaged in july.. wedding next august.. I'm dreading the wedding dress shopping! As a plus size bride there is nothing beautiful out there for someone shaped like me. Just the David's bridal satin dress. I've searched and shopped..and well I cant believe how bridal shops act toward someone that is labeled "plus".
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the lace! I could never pull it off. It'd make me look like I was wearing a communion dress. (Which was lace WITH lace tights, and probably is how I associate myself in lace.)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness....that one with the deep V and lace insert is so gorge!!! I've been with the bf for four years now and super hoping that the question is on the horizon. Maybe you should do a post about "how to be patient when you know you want to be with this person forever but you want to start wedding planning right now and please just ask me so we can DO this thing!" haha!
ReplyDeletebut really, these dresses are beauties.
so amazing - I love all the lace!
ReplyDeletethis "engagement season" could definitely be mine! i feel like a little girl, giddy with excitement, that it is in the works!!! here's to hoping :)
ReplyDeleteps- dresses are stunning..
I've been waiting for my boyfriend to pop the question for FOREVER! If it's not in the next few months I'm just going to lay down the law. haha. These dresses are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am French I also found this amazing designer few weeks again. Her dresses are so romantic and all the details are perfect... Now I just need to sell the idea of a wedding to my lovely boyfriend!!
ReplyDeleteI also found this other great great designer (French) with amazing dresses, have a look at:
http://lalovelist.com/
And the dresses are not that expensive, wedding, wedding, wedding!!
Joanna, I wore the same wedding dress! I purchased it from JCrew for 30% off last cyber Monday, wore it at my wedding in May, and felt absolutely beautiful (and comfortable)! In fact, I loved it so much I just had it dyed grey and I am wearing it (with a red velvet blazer) to a black tie holiday party this year!
ReplyDeleteThose french wedding dresses are beautiful but for a girl with a bigger bust (like myself) there's nothing like the Gracie.
The first one is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI really want one (though I wouldn't use it for its purpose (for a wedding)!
yes, my friend got engaged on a holiday just last week! the engagement season theory is correct!
ReplyDeleteI'd rock the first one. Any dress that allows me to squat is alright in my book!
ReplyDeleteall the lace! i love it, so simple and classic
ReplyDeleteI love how they are so simple and elegant. And the lace is so lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteAre all french women flat chested? I love these dresses but I don't think they would work for someone who is a bit top-heavy.
ReplyDelete6 months ago, I totally thought I'd be getting engaged this December, but wowee do things change! Now I'm single and happy with where my future is going -- marriage being part of it!
ReplyDeleteunbelievable... what do french people do to create such beauties? nice to see lace getting used in such a beautiful way.
ReplyDeleteLove the clean scent!! Hope Toby feels better!!

ReplyDeleteThese truly make lace look sexy! No proposals yet!
ReplyDeletewe have chosen the ring and i've taken a peek since he collected it from the jeweller's. it's beautiful and i can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was engagement season; I got engaged ON Thanksgiving this year! :D
ReplyDeletemaker, that is so awesome!! i love it!!
ReplyDeletethese are AMAZING. wow, love them!
ReplyDeletewow, these dresses are beautiful! i am nowhere near getting engaged (a man might be needed first;) but that doesn't stop me from fake-planning my someday wedding:)
ReplyDeletethe lace is to die for.!

I own a Shabby Chic French style flower store in Austin, Texas and have an obsession over anything French and lovely. This post was such a feast for the eyes. Thank you Jo! www.lfvaustin.
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful...I love how delicate they are!
ReplyDeleteSo my boyfriend and I have been dating for 3+ years and he keeps HINTING a lot lately! Will keep you posted!

ReplyDeleteI am drooling...
ReplyDeletea bunch of friends at work are engaged right now... one of whom just proposed to his girlfriend. it DOES seem like a lovey-dovey time of year! :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteStunningly gorgeous dresses and pics. My SO just popped the question two weeks ago, so I am on the market for a gown! :) Interesting that this time of year is the most popular for couples to get engaged.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Joanna, the Gracie gown was my wedding dress too (in January 2009)! In fact, I bought it on sale, and also got 30% off the sale price and free shipping. To Hawaii. That's where I was living at the time. All in all my wedding dress was only $175. Boom. And it fit me like a dream straight out of the box! It was meant to be, and there's a special place in my heart for the Gracie. You have impeccable taste. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the second from the bottom. French anything is always so delicate and refined. At least those brides will be able to walk around instead of wearing a 20 pound silk princess dress :)
ReplyDeleteI was extremely impressed thanks for sharing all information. It is a great post for the people to get the proper information. So wedding gowns is very high and more actions to actives.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I didn't know there was a season, but I just got engaged the weekend before Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOh my God! I love all of them!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the 4th pictures hair!!
Kisses from Basque Country (north of Spain)
Love the lace and delicate details..so romantic!! Great dresses and beautiful photography!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!
I think they are wonderfully refreshing. a vintage look of romance. All polished & poofy dress seem so more unrealistic, but these dresses show out the beauty. great pictures. Not planning on getting engaged anytime soon.these i would wear just because. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteAll of them are so amazing :)

I actually just got engaged last Sunday!!! Best day of my life (so far!) and I'm so ridiculously happy to be marrying my best friend!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful. I love how effortlessly chic they are. But after all they are French so what would they be?
ReplyDeletewww.qacreate.com
Marissa Waddell, the HUGE majority of couples taking "wedding" pics around Paris (if they are Chinese there is a big chance the wedding was moons ago but they're just re-enacting to get romantic pictures taken...) are foerigners and tourists. It's really not in the French tradition to do that, especially not in front of the Eiffel tower... Locals would have photo sessions in front of their local church, then off to the reception adress to take most of the rest, and more often than not, in a suburb or chateau / old house in the Ile-de-France region... But it is funny and ironic definitely! ;)
ReplyDeleteI just got engagement the day before Thanksgiving!!! The most romantic setting by the lighthouse in Northern California during a rain storm!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love those dresses that you posted, where can I find them in CA?

ReplyDeleteHave you heard about Ketubah? As a Filipina it's interesting to learn that besides the perfect wedding ring, the couples needed to choose the right Ketubah Designs for their Jewish wedding ceremonial. This piece of document is like a contract that will be signed by the couples in front of the witnesses. This is like a bond of responsibilities, truthfulness and love for each other and their future children.
