it *snowed* last night in western Massachusetts and I had to defrost my car door locks with a book of matches this morning!
Ooooh yes they would. Sooo lovely and dramatic.- Sarahhttp://agirlintransit.blogspot.com/
and yes, love that nailpolish.
I am in Buffalo and it snowed yesterday! Today is chilly but sunny so I am going to go out now and enjoy the last few days of the fall foliage. Love the nail polish! Would wear it all winter long...
I DO wear it. and I love the contrast of the dark red against my pale skin. Perfecto.
Essie Vixen is my winter polish of choice. I especially love it on short nails so, yep, I'm all over this especially with the *perfect* chunky gray sweater.
i do like that color! so pretty with grays and blacks. in phx it's a blustery 68 degrees right now which is cold for us. finally we can pull out our sweaters. have a great weekend joanna, xo!
Totally agree! It's a perfect winter colour. I also love wearing deep chocolate or darker grey shades. Have a cozy day! xo
I pretty much live in Essie's Wicked all winter. Dark, rich and perfect!
Love this color - definitely would! It's windy and dreary here, quite a change from yesterday's 74 and balmy!
It was 37 degrees on my walk to the subway this morning, and I passed my local nail salon and had the exact same thought! I always go for a deep red this time of year. Seems so perfect for the cold weather!
LOVE dark red polish!! http://swoonhunting.blogspot.com
mmmmm...big comfy sweaters (got me one on today!). i gravitate to warm reds and "putty" colors for winter.our weather is cool...but no snow yet up here in Canada!xohttp://sarah-nadine.blogspot.com
My car was frozen and had to hip check the door to get it open, here in southern NH. Love this color, reminds me of Essie's Wrapped in Rubies!
How pretty! That is one nail color I could wear for a long time!
yes o yes
LOVE! What color is it? It doesn't show the exact color on the link, only the image of it.I usually tend to go for dark reddish-purples, (OPI's Boris & Natasha anyone?), but I'm in need of a good dark RED.p.s. GO CARDS!!! 1 game away from winning the World Series!!
I second that - what's this color called? It's fantastic!
gorgeous color! here in Prague its pretty warm for the season, but grey skies and soon getting dark... happy Halloween Jo!
I would def wear it... it's excellent on toenails too!
love the garnet-coloured nails! definetly a do :) it's been in the mid 50's here and sunny, but on Monday we had a crazy rain and hail storm in the morning. this year is going to be my first year experiencing actual cold (and snow!) since i was a little kid. i'm excited, but a little nervous - and i think i need to buy some mittens!
I have been looking for a red polish, and that one is divine! So luxurious and sophisticated. Great choice! faithfulluxe.blogspot.com
I would absolutely wear it! The darker the better in my mind.
It started to be chilly here in France too! and I'm sincerely thinking to get one dark red polish! this weekend! :) thanks for the post Joanna!xoxoBetülhttp://balladofseasons.blogspot.com
Snowed in Albany NY yesterday. What's the color, the link doesn't give a name. Thanks
here's a link to the original photo on flickr:http://www.flickr.com/photos/hervoices/5246525703/i actually used the same pic in a blog post a couple of weeks agohttp://crowandquill.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/i-think-of-you/
Oh, that is the perfect winter nail color. Love it! Still waiting for winter here in So Cal. It will be almost 80 today and thru the weekend. But, we do have our cool nights now - down to 48 last night. I love it - exactly what is so wonderful about Southern California.
oh i love the combination of the grey sweater and the nail polish, i would definitely wear it (i love red nail polish, soo..) and where i come from it is really chilly as well!
It is SO cold here in NY this morning, but I kind of loved sleeping with a ton of blankets. Love the polish too!
I'm actually wearing a similar color right now on my fingers AND toes! It's OPI Black Cherry Chutney. It's a dark red/black with burgundy flecks of shimmer in it!
I would definitely rock the dark red! And for the weather, the Bay Area is supposed to be around 75 degrees today. I know, we're spoiled.
I totally dig it! I'm running a marathon this weekend in Cape Cod, so to treat myself post-race (and from the cold) I am planning for a pedicure that night. I think I found my color of choice!Becca
all time fav!!!
such a pretty color for the fall time :)
i have wicked on right now, but its a real nightmare to put on for some reason. very streaky.
I love that color...it's been my go to color since jr. high...snow in nyc...UGH! I'm not ready.www.soulpretty.blogspot.com
Although I'm nt too much into dark red, this one looks pretty good. I'm wearing a lot of dark purple :-). I'm in south Texas, was in the 80ties till yesterday when the cold air from the North came in, and it's really cold today, suppose to be max 65 deg :-(.
I'm loving it and would totally wear it. Gorgeous!
That color red reminds me of my mom, because that's her absolute favorite color to paint her nails. If she goes through the trouble of painting them, it's always that shade. I'd wear it, even though I'm more of a natural, coral-color nail girl. The weather here is pretty, albeit chilly: it's a high of 50 today with a mix of clouds and sunshine.
I can't believe it's supposed to snow already! It's a little chilly in Chicago, but it was sunny yesterday, so quite lovely. I love the nail polish, but probably only for my costume.
I'm in Pennsylvania right now and it is pretty cold. Thank goodness I have my wool coat and a zillion scarves. A deep red polish would be gorgeous for fall!!!
Ooh, I love that color. Yesterday, we had a cold front move in. It rained most of the day. Today, it's sunny and cool - a near-perfect fall day! xo.
i just had this very color put on my nails 2 days ago. it just feels right :)
Gorgeous! It's actually pretty mild here in London, which I'm fairly grateful for because I have NOT stocked up on my winter wardrobe!
I *always* get deep dark red nails when I get a manicure, becuase I figure it's easier for them to do it than me. Love the look. It's looks done and yet chicly undone.
we had frost in toronto! awk! this definitely a cold weather colour - nice!
I love dark reds! I live in Texas and we finally got through with the 90 degree weather. The high today is 65! Woo-Hoo!!
Yes, in fact this is the only colour nail polish I ever wear. Chanel rouge noir every winter.... without fail.
it's mild here- in the 70s.I painted my toes vamp the other day. It's an oldie but a classic and I LOVE it. (I painted my son's toes, too.)
Another colour that I'm completely in love with!
I actually JUST finished taking off a dark red Essie polish (because it was way chipped, not because it wasn't beautiful). How coincidental!
The weather is freezing here!! DC has been gloomy, but at least there is sun today! Dark red nail polish is so chic. Chanel Vamp will always be one of my absolute favorite nail colors.
i'm just north of the nyc area. can't believe it's going to snow! i love the dark red! my nails are awful lately due to working in a lab. maybe i'll stay in this weekend and do my nails. or maybe not. i have a date with my bffs and fette sau!
oooh i love that! so glamorous.
It's lovely and sunny here in Cape Town with occasional light showers. Perfect weather in my opinion ;)
Love it! Definitely fits for the colder weather.
Super rainy day in Barcelona! Boots time!
love dark nails-love this colour!
unrelated. although kind of wintery - the Bon Iver Holocene video - I just thought you'd like it!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWcyIpul8OE&feature=relmfu
i wear dark red all fall and winter- i'm evening wearing essie's 'masquerade belle' for my wedding next weekend! its a gorgeous deep velvety red :0)
Something that my boyfriend says looks black, but it's a really dark purple Essie. I love the dark red. It's 70 where I am and doesn't feel like fall, but my brain is programmed to switch to dark polish at this time of year!
Good timing! I just painted my nails dark red last night. It's just so FALL. Essie's Sole Mate is the color. :)
Can anyone tell me the name of the essie color? I don't see teh color name on teh link.
saw snowflakeroos yesterdaycold todaylove the blood red nail polishhas a solid classy look
Wearing dark red nail polish now and I love love love it. We are no where near snow--it is 70 degrees today, but a girl can pretend. :)
never thought i'd wear this color but that actually looks cute!
Oh yes I'd definitely wear it. I think the color is gorgeous. www.geekettegazette.comwww.thegirlieblog.com
Joanna, Have you tried gel nails yet? Brilliant!!I have had the polish on 9 days andthey still look the same as the day the polish was applied.I am rocken a dark royal blue right now. Gonna have to try that red next.classylilsassy.com
lovely, I am still not over how fast summer went and its going to snow! oh great....but i love the nail polish. I wear a purplish black one during winter along with other colors.
YES! I wear it often! My favorite is MRS O'LEARY'S BBQ by OPI. It's fabulous. See it here: http://tinyurl.com/3qr43xw
so beautiful http://girlynote.blogspot.com/
It's a high of 80 in soCal. But I'm tired of wearing shorts and tanks....I want to wear sweaters, dammit!Deep purples, red are what I gravitate to during the fall and winter season.
i almost immediately hated this idea... then i saw the picture and realized that i have approximately four different 'dark red' polishes. haha. i love them. i wonder what the initial 'hate it!' was all about. strange.
80 degrees today in California. Fall didn't get the memo to stop by here. Happy Halloweekend!
i love the look! nailpolish on my nails, sweater on my list ;-)
The rain has finally stoped...it's 65 degrees here in Lisbon, the sun is shining!! Really love your blog Joanna! It always puts a smile on my face. This week I wore red nailpolish, but much brighter than the one in your post. LOVE IT! Must find one a bit darker...
Love it! I'm wearing a similar shade right now!
Love this polish...wearing a similar color right now..Mrs Oleary's BBQ OPI is also a fav of mine! It is 47 in Seattle and gloomy..
I would definitely wear it!! Dark red nail polish is on my autumn shopping list, since all I have right now is bright red. The only downside is that it's so much more noticeable when it chips. :-P
Wow! The thought of snow in October is mind boggling as we are entering our next season of Still Summer down in Savannah ...Love the color but will have to put the wool sweater on hold for another three months!
I have it on my toes... not sure if I'd put it on my fingers though. I'm kind of a nail polish wussy.
It's sunny in Vallejo, but it's been cool enough you have to wear jeans and long-sleeve shirts. I lived in Oregon for over two years before moving here, it's warmer than it was last year. I am looking forward to wearing a coat.
love the color! i would definitely wear it. it hardly feels like fall in LA. it's going to be 82 degrees this weekend and through Halloween. though i'm glad it's not too chilly, i would love for it to feel fall-like sometime before the season is over.
I'm wearing it right NOW! hahah I laughed when I saw this post because I thought the same thing this past Saturday when I went in to get my nails done. I can honestly say I am loving the dark red, it goes with everything!
A bit chilly here in Utah. And a big "YES" to the nail polish!!
It's supposed to snow tomorrow?!?! I'm flying into New York just for the evening to see a concert that starts at 8, and my flight arrives at 6... say it ain't so!!!!
Gorgeous color! I'd definitely rock that color.
I flippin love it!
Love the color! Might just go buy it after work!!Weather in Washington is still fallish but the air is a bit nippy! I wish there was a chance for snow this weekend!
PS. its hot as heck here in johannesburg!
Love it!perfect for winterwww.mykitschworld.blogspot.com
Oh no, snow?! Yuck! I hope you don't mind it!! Me, well let's just say I'm not looking forward to it AT ALL. I'm from Chicago and the winters are pretty brutal here. Although, we have been lucky with our weather lately. It's supposed to be pretty nice this weekend, 50's and sunny (with a small chance of rain here and there). I don't mind at all! :) stay warm!!!
there's one from zoya about the color in the picture and wear it every november!
wait, which one is it on the web site?
Ooooh want!! xo
I've been looking for that color! Me and my roommate were just talking about it!
Wow that color is amazing! I can see it going with my new cream zara sweater that has elbow patches...you should go order one now it is on sale for $20 with free shipping I was so excited..it is coming in the mail today! I am in Santa Barbara and this weekend it is supposed to be 75 degrees, sunny and beautiful! It is really nice, but I am craving a chilly weekend full of cozying up by the fire and drinking tea...Hope that you have a lovely weekend :) xo, Erin http://www.fablifeincalifornia.blogspot.com/
love it!! i would so wear this color. i'd probably bring it out in the fall and keep wearing it through winter!
I love deep reds for fall and winter! Wicked is a particularly lovely shade. It's frigid here in D.C., threatening snow tomorrow. It would be our 4th October snow ever! Have a wonderful weekend :D
Cold, wet, dank and just about to get darker this weekend when daylight savings ends in London. We had beautiful autumnal weather last weekend, though! I'm trying to get myself to try black polish this fall. I feel it's a bit risky, though -- you walk the line between on trend and sophisticated, and depressed goth!
It's my favourite colour to wear in the fall and winter.http://talesofamadcapheiress.blogspot.com/2011/09/wicked.html
snoww!!??? oh no! does that mean it will hit northern jersey too!??yes I love that color :)
Its 80 degrees in LA today. I need to move to a town with real weather!
snow?! yikes! It just became winter here in Madrid overnight, but we're nowhere near snow. As for the red nails, absolutely totally and positively. http://nomadic-d.blogspot.com/
love dark nail polish colors: red, purple, navy. most of mine are by OPI: lincoln park after dark, russian navy (since I'm russian!) and dark cherry chutney.
haha yep 80 in Long beach, Ca. Wish it was cold and snowing!! I think that nail color is perfect with a cream or a black dress for a holiday party. Right now I'm searching for the perfect plum color.
It's just raining here in Austria, but the next few days are supposed to be sunny! No snow in sight yet... god thanks! :)xoxAngi
Love the nail polish color. I know what I'm buying next... The weather in Zurich, Switzerland is surprisingly nice, sunny and around 15 degrees Celsius, so no sigh of winter yet.http://thebookoffaces.blogspot.com/
so classic.make sure to come check out my giveaway! :)love, rach.www.so--hi.blogspot.com
Love it, so excited for fall, and sooo sick of the pale pink from summer.
It's been a beautiful day here in Essex, England... bright blue skies, gorgeous sunshine slanting sideways, and a slight nip of frost in the air.
Essie's Wicked always looks black on me, not red, and on everybody else it looks red!
Yikes! And I thought winter would start early in Minnesota! It's suppose to be sunny and in the 50's this weekend! I just bought a red nail polish that color though. I love it.Meredithhttp://brightboldblonde.blogspot.com/
Hmm, love the deep red on others, not sure if I would like on my own fair (read:super-duper pale) hands. Here in Colorado, we had half a foot of snow two days ago, but should be in the 60s for the weekend. Just that time of year for up and down weather! (But the snow had me secretly listening to a few Christmas carols. Don't tell. :)
I would not only wear it, I'm thinking of driving to Target tonight to see if they have it!It's cold and crisp here - looking forward to bonfires and smores this weekend!
I would totally rock that dark red. Those sorta colours always remind me of dark cherries. Instant yumminess.Maria xxwww.cheekypinktulip.blogspot.com
Just bought it a couple of days ago. The pic is cute. Perfect combi of red and beige sweater... makes me feel cosy just looking at it.
i LOVE this deep red! especially with a big cozy sweater! have a fabulous weekend~ oh, and what are you dressing your son up as for Halloween?? there are some CUTE kids costumes out there!xxoo- vanessa (the gal)http://fashiongalfireman.blogspot.com/
YES, i would wear this shade. I have fair skin and although ti would accentuate it I think it would look nice and chilly for this time of year and especially as we go deeper into fall!!(I was just thinking about treating myself to a manicure so this shade is proving to be great inspiration!!)~abigailaka tiptoethrough.blogspot
Here in Belgium it is a very mild fall. Last week i had to use my winter coat but today i just needed to wear a thin jacket so the winter is at this time far away!
is it Essie "wicked" I have it and love it...it was a cool 66 degrees this morning but now it's up to 82
I just painted my toes this color! It's cold in Philadelphia and I already heard the S word (snow) for this weekend. Ugh. Hope you are all going to stay cozy this weekend!
i'm all about the dark colors. great image.
this is my fave fall/winter color for toes AND fingers!
sunny and warm 78 degrees here in newport beach! =) love the polish!
lovelove! i'm all about dark colors and i almost always rock dark purple (no matter the time of year). this dark red is GORGEOUS. thanks for sharing.
This is so funny, I never would have guessed this polish was "wicked" because when I wear it (all the time in fall/winter!!) it looks like a deep purple. Do others notice that polishes can come out so differently on different people's nails? Would love some other recommendations on polishes that come out more deep red!
oh I do love it! I also like the new gray taupey colours!I'm so excited I'm heading to NYC next week for a weekend away with hubby. Maybe I should buy some for the trip!
We live in Australia, since we are 'down under' and things are opposite to the northern hemisphere, we are just coming into summer. Summers here are HOT and HUMID (at least in Queensland) and AC is not a normal part of life... I would LOVE to put on a beautiful nailpolish. Eight and a half months pregnant and my nails are very brittle and I have not had the energy to do any self-beautification rituals for a while now...
Wearing a color like that right now! When I got my nails done, they mixed two colors together - I was hoping for more of a dark purple but this deep cranberry was a nice suprise!
Fall just arrived this morning here and Houston! I was premature with my dark red nail polish, painting them about a week ago, but now they seem to fit right in with the weather. Love this time of year!www.dylandrake.blogspot.com
My favorite dark red nail polish is Chanel N°18 Rouge Noir (i think it's called Vamp in the US).Now that fall is here, i wear it all the time! It's a classic!
Love Love the color. I love dark colors for the fall. I would definitely wear that. What color is it? Well, I heard the NY weather was a bit cold. Here in SC its 60s 70s.Sorry...stay warmwww.cancerinthecity.com
yes, it's sexy color, and it's one of my fave, even still warm here in Indonesia . Greeting :)
I've noticed a similar color a few times on some people and haven't gotten the guts yet to try it. I might just do it now! :)
Love the dark red! It would complement my new rubber boots that I bought this week to prepare for Bangkok's imminent floods. (I'd rather be curling up in cashmere in NYC, waiting for the snow!)
Here in Belgium the weather has been uncharacteristically sunny and we are enjoying every minute of it!!I agree, dark red is a perfect colour for autumn and winter, I will be painting my nails that colour this weekend!
OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark might be my favourite nail polish of all times!!I'm touring around Germany at the moment and the weather's been quite mild and sunny! Nails are painted more of a brownish red right now :)
love the color! we are just recovering from a major heatwave in Gaborone, so I was happy that the rain and thunderstorms brought some cooler air...http://thesingaporeadventure.blogspot.com/
i've been all about the dark red. 'berry naughty' by essie is really perfect. love!
We are in Florida for the weekend so snow is the last thing on my mind. For the first time in ages I am wearing color on my nails. It is a deep purpley red. It is called Diva of Geneva. I totally picked it because of the name...
i love this colour!http://sometimelifejustsucks.blogspot.com/
Wicked is a great color ... have you seen Solemate as well? That's a great fall/winter color, too.
I would love to wear nail polish this colour; in fact, i am going to put it on my seasonal wish list. It would look perfect with a cream coloured cable-knit sweater.
Looks like the nailpolish I'M WEARING RIGHT NOW. Love it.
love the nail polish! currently, we're in spring that's about to enter into a lovely summer in little old new zealand! :D
i've been wearing dark red nails polish for the past month, in anticipation of halloween, but i think i will continue wearing it through out the winter.
Joanna,I love your photography! Where do you find your images?!Rowena
I would! Except my cousin tells me I have such small fingernails--almost the size of toenails--that I really don't have anything to paint.
I'm wearing that exact color on my toes! And the weather is gorgeous where I am...because I'M IN PARIS! I thought it was the perfect color for a romantic getaway ;)
I've been wearing Essie's Wrapped in Rubies. Its a gorgeous dark red that makes me feel perfectly ready for the colder temperatures.
I so need to break my nail biting habit!
Cleveland weather is hit or miss as per usual! Hope you had a nice weekend!SheGads.blogspot.com
Here in Amsterdam is quite cold too... but no snow yet ;-)Lately I am aso quite in love with red, in fact, all shades of red!xx,A.
I would wear it, and I am at the moment too!I do find it funny though how it's snowing in the U.S. and in southern Manitoba right now...we haven't had any yet :)
I'm about to face summer here on the southern hemisphere, but I do have a crush on OPI's Black Cherry Chuntey nail polish. It's almost black, but with a hint of dark red. And i do prefer OPI over Essie.
Gorgeous color! I just got Essie's Carry On (a deep, plummy purple) and I'm dying to wear it, especially with cozy sweaters. If only I had a fireplace... The weather here in Germany has been freezing - I even had to break out my big down coat already, but this week it's mellowed out the perfect autumn chill.
Yes I'd wear it! Only red i would wear. It's cold here and feels like it will anow early too! Xx callie
yes, i LOVE dark red nail polish!
I'm back on the classic red nail polish- the colour of a London bus- it makes me feel good every single time I look down at my hands- which is priceless
I'm wearing Essie's Berry Naughty at the moment. I like the look but it makes such a mess when I take the polish off. Red everywhere!
beautiful color :D
I bought dark red nail polish last year and fell in love with it. I also have dark red with little bit glitter (by Pupa). But in my mind, it works best in short nails. Here in Northern Italy it's still quite warm (16C and sunny today!), it's difficult to believe that Christmas is getting closer..

My absolute favorite shade of polish. I rock it even when it's not at all cool. It's ultra-sexy, inspired by the ox blood colors of the 20s - 40s. Total love.www.thestylistquo.com
